Our licensed speech pathologists will work to improve your child’s ability to communicate. They are trained to utilize techniques which will help your child improve his/her ability to communicate with others as well as to improve his/her level of understanding. They will help your child to develop a more effective means of communication through signing and pictures while working toward verbal communication and expanding vocabulary. Our speech pathologists have experience with oral-motor assessment and treatment. They utilize various techniques which normalize facial/muscle tone and oral sensitivity to improve your child’s feeding skills and quality of speech.


Our special instruction teachers have extensive knowledge of early childhood development. They are trained to assess and improve your child’s development in many areas. They will implement treatments which will improve your child’s cognitive development. Because we recognize that your child’s social and emotional development is equally important, we will address these areas as well. Our teachers understand the importance of ongoing communication with your family. They will offer ways for you to implement their educational techniques into your daily routine. Our teachers are experienced in developing behavior modification plans to help you to address your child’s challenging behaviors.


Our licensed physical therapists are trained to assess and improve your child’s gross motor function. Physical therapists will implement treatments which will improve your child’s strength, coordination, balance, quality of movement and will normalize muscle tone. They will incorporate techniques which will help your child to learn gross motor skills such as rolling, sitting independently, crawling, walking, and running, just to name a few. They have extensive experience with various treatment approaches including NDT (neuro developmental treatment) and sensory integration techniques and infant massage. Our physical therapists are experienced with assessing for orthotics and adaptive equipment. They recognize the importance of family education regarding ways to incorporate treatment techniques into your child's daily routine.


Our licensed occupational therapists are trained to assess and assist your child to improve a number of important skills. They will focus on improving your child’s fine motor skills so he/she may be able to manipulate objects more easily. They help to foster independence in activities of daily living such as dressing, self-care skills, and play. They are experienced with assessing for hand orthotics and adaptive equipment. Our occupational therapists have extensive experience with sensory integration techniques and are trained to identify and treat sensory issues using the latest research - based approaches. Our occupational therapists have experience with oral-motor and feeding issues and are knowledgeable about various approaches to address these areas. They recognize the importance of communicating with your family and offering suggestions of techniques to integrate into your daily routine.


Pediatric Therapy Professionals, Inc. maintains contracts with the Western Pennsylvania School for the Deaf Choices for Children Program and the DePaul Institute to utilize their specialists for children with hearing impairments. They are trained to assess your child’s hearing and to help children with hearing impairments to improve their overall development. Teachers of the hearing impaired are trained to help children to improve their ability to understand and to communicate with others. They are experienced with cochlear implants, the use of sign language, verbal communication, augmentative communication devices, and are familiar with various methods to develop expressive communication. Vision teachers are trained to help children with visual impairments to improve their functioning in all areas of development.


Our nutritionists are trained to assess your child’s dietary needs. They will make recommendations regarding ways to improve your child’s caloric intake and/or modify his or her diet to satisfy nutritional needs, and subsequently, promote your child’s health, growth, and well-being. Our nutritionists have experience with the pediatric population, including work with children who have issues such as feeding tubes, tracheotomies, a diagnosis of Failure to Thrive, food allergies, and Celiac Disease to name a few.
